Monkey Helpers for the Disabled

Helping Hands serves quadriplegic and others with severe spinal cord injuries or mobility-impairments by providing highly trained monkeys to assist with daily activities.

As live-in companions, the monkeys provide 20-30 years of service, bringing the gifts of independence, companionship, dignity and hope to the people they help.

    Hi Gimpy Girls,
I somehow hadn’t read this story before today and was so amazed by the various film clips of helper monkeys. I’m afraid this website is really cutting into my work time :) but my co-workers are very interested in the things I share with them so it’s an educational tool! Thanks for inspiring me every day!

I got so interested in the monkey helpers that I was looking around and learned (as you all probably already know) that miniature horses are used as guide animals. There are some great pics on this site: http://www.guidehorse.org/
