We have a lot of birds in our yard in central NJ. One of my favorites is an owl we’ve dubbed “Hootie,” who lives in a tree with a big hole in it. You have to know where the hole is to see Hootie, because when he or she is out enjoying the sunshine, the bird is so well camouflaged it just looks like solid tree bark. I keep trying to get close enough to take a picture, but Hootie is shy and scoots back into the tree when I approach!
